In the 2018 edition, our Avalon cider received a special mention in the Traditional Cider category.
Avalon is a cider in bottle developed by the Trabanco Group that is consumed in a similar way to beer. It is a natural cider, made from varieties of bitter, sour and sweet apples harvested and ed by Trabanco in its own plantations. A young, fruity cider with a low alcohol content, ideal for leisure time consumption. The general trend of cider consumption at international level is turning to this consumption format.
The competition
The prizes are awarded after an anonymous tasting where expert brewers, cider makers and independent sommeliers value the products under the strict control and supervision of the sector´s certification bodies. The city České Budějovice (Budweis) is the Czech capital of beer, this drink has a great tradition and popularity. 222 brewers and cider makers from 18 countries have registered for the competition: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Spain, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Israel, Ireland, USA and Japan. The tasters evaluated the quality of more than 1,000 products. More than 90 prizes were awarded.
The XXVIII INTERNATIONAL BEER FESTIVAL BUDWEIS 2018 is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Czech Republic, statutory city of České Budějovice, South Bohemian Region, Economic Chamber, Food Chamber and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic, Czech Agricultural University of Prague, Chemical-Technological College of Prague, University of South Bohemia of České Budějovice, Technical and Economic College of České Budějovice.
